About
Radio remembered. Radio continued.
The Late Programme is an independent late-night music programme built from a lifelong relationship with radio, careful selection and the atmosphere of listening after dark.
When I was young, I used to listen to old AM/FM smooth jazz shows on a Soundesign TX-style radio. You found the frequency, settled into the room and listened to what the programme chose to give you.
That memory is the starting point for The Late Programme. Each edition is made for the same kind of attention: a sequence with a point of view, a little space around each record and the sense that the broadcast has its own time and place.
Today, the programme moves through smooth jazz, soul, contemporary jazz and related sounds. It is published independently on Mixcloud, but its spirit comes from radio: considered, continuous and meant to be heard rather than merely added to a queue.
